Ineke Kooistra and Elbrich Batstra have founded ELiN Partners, an executive search firm. “Executive search needs to be about people again not about titles.” Ineke Kooistra, former CEO of staffing agency Young Capital, and Elbrich Batstra are launching an executive search firm together: ELiN Partners.
The company was born out of both frustration and ambition, Kooistra says. “Frustration about how things were done, and ambition to do it better more human, bolder, and with more depth. I’m done with checklists. What matters is whether someone dares to lead with character, sharpness, and intuition, that’s what we’re looking for,” says Kooistra. “Executive search should be about people again not about titles. We look at impact, at how someone leads in times of change.”
Kooistra and Batstra, who both worked for years at Young Capital, want to shift the focus in their executive search practice away from résumés and job titles as the main criteria for leadership. Instead, they assess how someone has led: behavior, executive functions, character, courage, and impact during times of transformation.
“We have been in boards ourselves. We know what’s expected of leaders and what makes the difference between a manager and a leader,” says Kooistra. “We recognize real leaders because we’ve walked that path ourselves,” Batstra adds.
ELiN focuses on organizations in transition: scale-ups, corporates, family businesses, and private equity. The firm aims to combine the precision of a boutique office with the reach of an international network. From its base in Amsterdam, offices will be opened in London, Stockholm, Zurich, and Berlin, while building partnerships in New York and other strategic hubs.

Ineke Kooistra en Elbrich Batstra hebben ELiN Partners opgericht, een executive search bureau. “Executive search moet weer gaan over mensen niet over titels.” Ineke Kooistra, voormalige CEO van uitzender Young Capital en Elbrich Batstra richten samen een executive search bureau op: ELiN Partners. Het bedrijf is geboren uit frustratie én ambitie, zo zegt Kooistra. “Frustratie over hoe het ging, ambitie om het beter te doen: menselijker, moediger en met meer diepgang. Ik ben klaar met vinklijstjes. Wat telt is of iemand durft te leiden met karakter, scherpte en intuïtie daar zoeken wij naar”, aldus Kooistra. “Executive search moet weer gaan over mensen niet over titels. Wij kijken naar impact, naar hoe iemand leidt in tijden van verandering.”
Kooistra en Balstra, die beide jarenlang bij Young Capital werkten, willen daarom in hun executive search praktijk leiderschap niet langer beoordelen op wat je allemaal hebt gedaan doormiddel van cv’s en functietitels, maar op hoe je het hebt gedaan: gedrag, executieve functies, karakter, lef en impact in tijden van transformatie.
“We hebben zelf in de board gezeten. We weten wat er gevraagd wordt van leiders en wat het verschil maakt tussen een manager en een leider”, aldus Kooistra. “Wij herkennen echte leiders omdat we zelf die route hebben afgelegd”, vult Batstra aan.
ELiN richt zich op organisaties in beweging: scale-ups, corporates, familiebedrijven en private equity. Het bureau wil daarbij de precisie van een boutique kantoor combineren met de reikwijdte van een internationaal netwerk. Vanuit Amsterdam worden kantoren geopend in Londen, Stockholm, Zürich en Berlijn en bouwt het aan partnerschappen in New York en andere strategische hubs.
