International Women's Day 2025
💜 💜 On International Women’s Day, I reflect on raising my twins, a daughter and a son. Double the fun, double the trouble but also double the responsibility to make this world an equal place. As I empower my daughter to know her worth, I also teach my son that gender equality isn’t exceptional, it’s normal. We not only need to uplift women; we need men to embrace equality too, together we set the norm where equal opportunities, respect, and representation are not questioned but expected.
Inspired by Rachel Platten’s song Girls, I am reminded that girls are meant to run, dream, and break barriers. But beyond celebrating women, we must push for real change, ensuring no girl’s potential is ever capped by inequality.
I will teach my daughter that her worth is shaped not by the obstacles she faces, but by the strength she builds in overcoming them. She must never question her intelligence, power, or rightful place in the world. For too long, women have been told to shrink themselves, to stay quiet, to wait their turn. But she will speak up, take space, and embrace mistakes as part of her journey, just as my mother taught me, and as I will teach her.
To all the girls out there: run toward your dreams. Run past the doubters, past the barriers, past the limits placed on you. The world is yours to shape, to challenge, to improve. You are wild and free, and no one should clip your wings. But running alone is not enough. We need to dismantle the structures that keep women from running at the same pace as men.We need equal pay, equal representation, and equal opportunities
Creating a truly equal world requires more than just empowering women, it demands that men actively embrace and uphold equality as well. By raising both my daughter and my son to see kindness, respect, fairness and equality as the norm, I hope to contribute to a future where opportunities are not dictated by gender but by talent and ambition. Every girl deserves to chase her dreams without barriers, and every boy should grow up knowing that equality is not a favor, it’s a right.
Change happens when we all act, not just today, but every day, because building a more equal world is a responsibility we all share.
